An Exodus and an Entrance

Week 21

Exiting Eqypt and Entering Israel

As we leave Cairo and make our away across the Sinai Peninsula, we take a different route similar to Moses and friends in the book of Exodus.

While the chronicler of our St. Barnabas journey could not do this leg of the trip justice and is also running short on time as the holidays approach, I would point you to the book of Exodus for a full account.

Fortunately, for our group, we did not spend 40 years wondering the desert. That said, spending a week crossing the desert for the second time in as many weeks allowed us time to reflect as we enter Israel.

We set off on this virtual journey twenty one weeks ago. We had no idea how many people would join us or if we would be able to reach our destination on time. Like many things in life, it took an initial leap of faith, keeping the faith and encouraging each other along the way.

We covered nearly 14,000 miles. We visited 30 countries across 3 continents, and we crossed one very big ocean. We saw five of the seven wonders of the ancient world. We ate local delicacies from clam chowda to mansaf to kibbeh while washing it down with Yeungling, rajika or ouzo. Our sweet tooth's were satisfied by Hershey Kisses, Belgian chocolates and Turkish Delight (ohhhhhh the Turkish Delight). We swam in oceans and rivers and floated on the Dead Sea. We might have even learned some things along the way. We definitely got some exercise.

While we did this virtually, hopefully it helped to provide some sense of togetherness as we continue to navigate our own desert of a pandemic. Together, whether virtually or in person, we can cross oceans, climb mountains and achieve amazing things.

We are now only a few miles from our destination. I look forward to next week's post when we arrive just in time. Great job and thanks to everyone for participating!
